What is involved in Interactive Metronome® Therapy?
HealthReach’s IM therapist works with the individual and/or family to set appropriate goals. The IM program then challenges the individual to synchronize a range of hand and foot exercises to a precise, computer-generated reference tone heard through headphones. The individual attempts to match the rhythmic beat with the repetitive motor actions while and audio or visual guidance system provides immediate feedback.
The program is typically offered in 1 hour sessions 3-5 times per week for 4-6 weeks, depending on individualized treatment goals. Dramatic improvement and achievement of goals is typical of the program.
